We look forward to bringing each of our teaching experiences and love of learning to Oakhurst STEAM Academy this year!
Ms. Berezovske (Ms. B.)
Hello! My name is Kristen Berezovske. Previously, I taught for four years at Nations Ford Elementary. I graduated from James Madison University (Go Dukes!) which is in Virginia. I am originally from outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Go Eagles!). I loved living near such a historic city that was home to the best cheesesteaks! Although I loved my hometown, I have been enjoying the southern hospitality in Charlotte! I love to stay active, try new restaurants, and do things outside. I also love to travel to some of the beautiful beaches in the Carolinas!
I look forward to a successful year with your children. :)
Ms. Fowler
Hello, my name is Rachael Fowler. I graduated from Ashland University and recently moved to Charlotte from Sandusky, Ohio. My family is originally from South Carolina and I couldn't wait to return to warmer weather! I'm excited to see how Carowinds compares to Cedar Point! I enjoy cooking, reading, doing yoga. I also have an adorable cat named Ambry!
I can't wait to see what this school year brings!
Ms. Garcia
Hello! My name is Gillian Garcia. I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte this spring. My field experiences have been in grades one, two, three, and four in Charlotte-Mecklenberg, Cabarrus, and Onslow county. I grew up in a military family and have been fortunate to live on both the east and west coast. Growing up on the coast created an undeniable love of the beach that I didn't realize until I moved to Charlotte from Jacksonville, NC. I love trying new things, dark chocolate with sea salt, peanut M&M's, and Reese's cups.
I am so incredibly excited to begin my teaching career at Oakhurst STEAM Academy!
Ms. Hsu
Hello! My name is Andrea Hsu. Previously, I have taught for eight years at Elizabeth Lane Elementary. I moved to Charlotte from Gainesville, FL, where I had taught for two years in fourth and fifth grade. I graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). I was fortunate enough to grow up on the East Coast- just a hop, skip, and jump away from Disney, St. Augustine, Cape Canaveral, and the birthplace of speed (Ormond/Daytona Beach). I love the beach, to travel, and to try new things. I love the mountains and hike with my dog, Harley. The beaches here are beautiful as well, although a bit too far away!
I am excited to build new memories with you and your child this year!
Ms. Mazzullo
Hi, All! My name is Leah Mazzullo, and I am very excited to be part of this amazing 2nd grade team at Oakhurst STEAM academy! I have previously taught E.C. in the Rochester City School District before moving to Charlotte in 2014. Last year, I taught 2nd at Billlingsville Leadership Academy and I am happy to recognize similar faces in my classroom this year! I love doing Crossfit, being at Lake Norman, and shopping. I have one baby at home. Her name is Lily, and she is a Yorkie mix. I look forward to meeting you all this year and building relationships with your children.
I can't wait to make this school year the best one yet!
